Btw, M. Guyenot, you made an extraordinary point in an earlier article that really shook me: That without the momentum of early Christianity and its eventual Empire, "there would have been no Islam, and Judaism would probably have died a natural death long ago..." A brilliant insight! I look forward to your developing that idea.

Whatever one thinks of Christianity as an institution or foundation of civilization... truly faithful followers of Christ's teaching are famously difficult to control. Once it was understood that Charlie could not be bought.... showing him to be a rare gem indeed... he was summarily "removed" from the scene... in the hope that his name and legacy might be better molded to purpose. Now certain forces are turning on Christians at large, tracking and targeting with aggressive propaganda attendees of the post-murder "rally." It will be interesting to see how effective this campaign to direct the high energy generated by Charlie's murder will be. Prior to the Covid campaign, Cass Sunstein, husband of the equally morally dubious Samantha Powers, wrote a report on guidelines for directing public opinion, and made explicit and emphatic note of the uniquely powerful resistance put up against any kind of propaganda by those who have true faith in a higher power... ie, true believers of "God"... however one understands that. He explicitly named Christians as uniquely intransigent and able to both resist and endure whatever ensues as consequences of their resistance. Charlie, God bless him, was tested and found to be a true Christian. We might also say, more prosaically perhaps: The young man had a conscience. I fully expect we will all have occasion to summon test our own consciences in the coming days.
